Mailboxes with personality!

Tony Scopel Posted onJuly 14, 2017August 1, 2017 Comments are off 2049 Views

I was driving along a familiar thoroughfare the other day finding myself again looking at all the fabulous homes. But on this particular day I began to notice the mailboxes that line the road. I thought to myself, “Mailboxes with personality”! What a great article this would make. Thus, here is the result of that days discoveries.

Does dressing up a mailbox express you or your home’s personality? It would be logical to think that it is a direct expression that reflects both the home and or its owners. The following photographs will challenge you in defining the homeowners personality.

I am thinking that this particular home owner is a University of Florida Gator fan or even a possible alumni. There is actually quite a bit of detail in this carved out piece of wood.

The amphibian holding up the mailbox above belongs to the home that is shown in the opening photograph. I am pretty sure that frogs must be a favorite topic for somebody who lives or is associated with the home’s owner.

Manatees are considered one of Florida’s favorite aquatic mammals. They are very abundant in this part of Florida. The mailbox belongs to the house shown below. They both seem to fit together pretty well if I do say so myself.

The mailbox below might give you a hint that surf loving people live in this beach house. The Ron John fiber glass board makes for a great prop!

The ‘Buddha’ holding up the mailbox shown below (belongs to the house pictured below – right) seems to be enjoying his job. And why wouldn’t he? Soaking up the morning sun and cooling off with the afternoon breezes isn’t a bad way to spend a day!

Is it me or do the mailboxes seem to alway match the houses they serve.

Scallop shells are found in many varieties on the beach. If this is any indication regarding the home owner’s passion, they must love collecting shells.

The beach house shown above is guarded by the panther that perches itself on the mailbox below.

At this point in time, my hunt for unique mailboxes is taking me further down the road. Hickory Boulevard, also known as Millionaire’s Lane, is starting to get busier by the minute. As I jump in and out of my car to snap pictures, traffic is whizzing by at forty plus miles per hour. But nothing is going to detour me from finishing my mission.

With that said, lets get back to showcasing some more mailboxes reflecting their homes’ attitude. There are plenty more to define.

Next is a mailbox (pictured below) that seems to belong to a diehard fisherman. The rain jacket obviously gives it away. “Nor rain or shine, fishing is always on my mind!”

Again, the house seems to match right in (pictured below) with the postured figurine. Have you noticed the rosy checks, the bright red lips and the tapered eyes? I think the diehard fisherman is actually a fisherwoman.

The last mailbox in this segment – “Mailboxes with personality”, hosts  a very familiar sight in this area. The “S” shaped figure appears in many movies, storybooks and is used for several iconic trademarks all around the world. The seahorse graciously holds out the mailbox for easy delivery. Who says having a decorative mailbox can’t be functional as well?

I hope you enjoyed this off the cuff and usual article. I have plenty more unique mailboxes coming your way in a Part 2 segment. If you liked these creative designs, I guarantee that you will love the ones coming up next! They include mermaids, dolphins and other beachy related novelties. Stay tuned.
