Its that time again for You, Me and The Dock’s – 2018 Photo Expo themed Food! This is our 2nd – biannual edition for 2018. Here is where our followers, loyal subscribers and casual readers can get seen and published.
We have invited people via our social media channels to send us their “Foodie” favorite photos. We received quite a few entries. They came from all over the world. Like music, food is another chosen commonality that we can all appreciate. It brings people together and promotes unity anywhere we go.
Food comes in all flavors, origins and mixtures. It doesn’t always have to be in a specific form like meat – main portion, surrounded by a secondary and/or side dish and complimented with a veggie or some sort of roughage.
This particular breakfast dish comes to us from Maureen McGarr Scopel. While waiting for her plane in the Cancun airport, she decided to order up an all-in-one meal from Guy Fieri’s Kitchen & Bar. The liquid based cocktail has your tomato juice, citrus, vegetables and fruit all in one. ‘Yummy!’
Ft Collins, Colorado has a variety of award winning restaurants – there is no lack of five star rated eateries. These two dishes were sent to us by an admirer of Nick Revitte’s culinary talents.
Chef Nick is self-taught and started his journey as a fry cook in a local bar and restaurant at the age of 15. He now prepares gourmet meals in some of the area’s top-rated establishments.
Chef Nick’s talents not only tantalize your taste buds, but also creates masterful pieces of art that look to good to eat! May it be an elaborate meat dish or a colorful fruit and veggie platter, Nick has a love for his well earned career and a passion for the culinary arts.
This Foodie favorite was submitted to us by an anonymous follower. However, they did give us several details on this Italian restaurant.
Playa del Carmen’s Don Chendo’s Italian Cafe is off the touristy path and that’s just fine with its frequent diners! It’s known for its homemade pastas and pizza pies.
This exotic dish comes to us from Mark & Laurie Ritchel of Beaumont, Texas. During a recent trip to Playa del Carmen’s Zona Centro, they visited NAU Cocina Mediterranean who serves up a tasty Mediterranean styled Octopus.
Laurie and Mark also shared a photo of their dessert named “Cenote”. It appears to be a cream like base topped with pieces of local fruit and smothered in dark chocolate.
Mexico’s Playa del Carmen is home to many well practiced Chefs. The claim of having a thousand restaurants in this popular vacation destination isn’t to far off. Laura Zapata sent us this photo while dining at Playa’s Famous 5th Avenue’s Sur Steakhouse.
This Pork Loin Carpacchio is seared on the outside and rare on the inside, garnished and served with crostini chips. Bon appetit!
Rudi Martens from Canada sent this culinary delight from Austria. While visiting a quaint little villages tucked away amongst the beautiful countryside, Rudi found this delectable entree.
This fresh salmon dish is baked to perfection, served with small potatoes, assorted roughage, and topped with parsley flakes. A very healthy meal when traveling.
What better place to enjoy a good home cooked meal than in a little mountain town restaurant and bar! Colorado has numerous eateries that are just off the two-lane winding mountain roads.
Colorado is well known for its beef and this sirloin strip is a perfect example. Add some homemade potato salad, garlic bread, and a green-side salad and you have yourself a perfect meal.
This scrumptious meal was sent to us by Pam Breit while visiting their Red Feathers Lake cabin. Pam tells us, “The ambiance of being in the mountains makes for a cozy occasion or spending quality time with family and friends!”
Last but not least, a traditional Mexican breakfast doesn’t always have to include eggs! Playa del Carmen’s Papa Charly Cafe & Pasta Factory serves a awesome breakfast.
When I, Anthony S. representing the travel site went out for a breakfast engagement, I was told by a several locals that enchiladas make for a great morning meal. I was a little hesitant but when in Mexico, eat what the locals eat.
I ordered up a plate of enchiladas smothered in green chili, topped with white goat cheese and a dab of sour cream. What a great breakfast it was!
There are also several traditional breakfast dishes on the menu like Huevos Rancheros and eggs mixed with chorizo and potatoes. If you feel a tad bit adventurous at the day’s beginning, you can’t go wrong by ordering up something out of the norm.
I want to again thank all the people who took time to send in their entries. It is so great to see people who not only like to travel, but also enjoy the local cuisines as well. Look for our next Photo Expo coming up in January 2019. Until then always remember to, “Love, Laugh & Travel Lots and enjoy the food while your there!”
